Unlicensed firearms and ammunition seized in Alberton

The suspect will soon be taken to the local court of law to face his alleged criminal activities.

An AK 47 was recovered in Phumula Alberton Policing area, it was alleged that the JHB flying squad were on duty and received information that there is someone in possession of an unlicensed firearm. This was intelligence driven operation as per follow up on an arrest made at the JHB CBD at West Gate taxi rank where suspects three firearms and ammunition were recovered

Members proceeded to a house in Phumula. It was further alleged that on arrival at the scene the members found the suspect at the gate. The suspect was stopped and members asked to search. Recovered were one rifle AK47, two magazines and 48 live rounds.

The suspect was given his constitutional rights and informed of his arrest and detained in the Alberton police cells.

The suspect will soon be taken to the local court of law to face his alleged criminal activities.
