UPDATE: Alleged murderer denied bail

Pietropaolo was arrested and charged with murder and possession of an unlicensed firearm.

VINCENZO Pietropaolo (61), murder accused, has opted to stay behind bars.

This request was made at his bail hearing on December 8 at the Palm Ridge Magistrate’s Court. The court concurred and remanded him back into police custody.

The case pertains to the murder of Pietropaolo’s estranged wife, Manuela (56), on November 13 at her Brackendowns home where she was shot nine times and perished at the scene.

Shortly after the murder, police, various security companies and AfriForum’s neighbourhood watch arrived at the scene and soon after receiving a description of the suspect’s car, the SAPS Flying Squad and other security companies made chase and apprehended Pietropaolo.

According to Sgt Lindi Moloi, spokesperson for the Brackendowns police department, Pietropaolo was arrested and charged with murder and possession of an unlicensed firearm after being found with two guns (one of them licensed).

“Upon further investigation, we found 222 bullets (live ammunition) at Pietropaolo’s office,” said Moloi.

Pietropaolo’s next court appearance will take place on March 8, 2018 at the Palm Ridge Magistrate’s Court.
