Alberton SPCA receive huge contribution

The school raised a whopping R27 000 and 1.4 tons of dog food for the organisation.

THE Alberton SPCA can breathe a huge sigh of relief after receiving a lot of help from Laerskool Randhart.

The school raised a whopping R27 000 and 1.4 tons of dog food for the organisation.

A team of 34 amateur cyclists, including teachers, two students and parents of children from Laerskool Randhart took part in this year’s 947 Cycle Challenge to raise these much-needed funds for the SPCA.

FOR A GOOD CAUSE: The teachers and parents pose for a mass selfie at the 947 Cycle Challenge.

Organisers of this charity project were Flippie van den Berg, Corli Carratu and Johann Haasbroek and sponsors included Van Ryns Attorneys (main sponsor), The Labour Advocate, Klopper and Jonker Inc, Korsten and Beukers, Postnet, Top Paints Meyersdal, E. Coetzee en Kie, Electro Plum & Maintenance, Karate Water, Wenpro, Rapid Fire, 4M Construction, RN Instrumentation, Akweja Bed & Breakfast, Dream Nails New Market (voucher) and Decathlon (water bottles).

“We at Alberton SPCA wish to send a huge thank you to all at Laerskool Randhart for your generous donations of food and money in respect of the team who rode in the Telkom 947 Cycle Challenge. We really appreciate the support. As you know, we receive no government funding and are totally dependent on the generosity of the Alberton community to help those who cannot speak for themselves.

“It is encouraging when schools help us and we value this interaction so much – not only does it benefit us directly, but it is an education and sensitising for both learners and parents about our responsibility to the dogs and cats we call pets and our concern for animals in general.

“We thank you for being part of, and caring for, this education cycle and assure you we will help you help us in any way that we can,” said a grateful Vanja Ingold, honorary secretary on the Alberton SPCA committee.

“Remember to adopt, not shop. If you would like to donate to the Alberton SPCA, SMS “Puppies” to 39969 to donate R15 (SMS cost: R15) or “Kittens” to 38844 to donate R10 (SMS cost: R10),” added Vanja.

THANK GOODNESS: Representatives from the Alberton SPCA and Laerskool Randhart with the 1.4 tons of food the school donated.
