ALBERTON Football Club has wrapped up what was a fun-filled, positive and successful 2017 season with a total of 500 plus registered members.

SOCCER STARS: The u-15 Super League team was nominated for team of the year in the u-15 to u-17 category. Front: Thabizolo Moyo, Njabulo Dhladhla, Kabelo Mphuthi, Tristan Smith and Oratile Lebelo. Back: Keagan Krchnavy, Cole Peter, Mauricio Viera, Craig Booysen (coach) Richard Ferreira (absent), Kayden Booysen, Donovan Upton and Trent Parker.

The junior prize-giving was held at DH Harris on November 4, where many players were recognised:

U-6: Two players came third in the league and second in the cup;

U-6: Three players came third in the league;

U-7: One player was first in the league;

U-8: One player came third in the league;

U-8: Two players came second in the league;

U-13SL: First in the league and second in the cup.

U-15SL: Third in the league.

U-8 TWO: This team came second in the league. Front: Rafael Soares, Costa Nkadimeng, Shaine Bedworth, Wayde Carlson and Alex Jordaan. Back: Joao Mendes (coach), Keanu Mendes, Ndumi Khoza, Nuno Da Fonseca (coach), Ethan Stewart, Melanie Bedworth (manager) and Nathan Bedworth.

“Congratulations to all our teams. Remember: true champions aren’t always the ones who win, but those with the most guts,” said Denise McDonald from the club.

JUNIORS: Alberton Football Club’s u-10 to u-17s celebrate at their junior prize-giving.

“To our coaches who give up their time: without you, none of this would be possible. To the players who pitch up week after week: thank you for your and your parents’ commitment,” she added.

SUPER LEAGUE U-13: These boys came first in the league and second in the cup. Front: Karabo Magadla, Aidan Kenning, Dorian Gueffroy, Donavan Atmore, Tristan Pillay, Sbusiso Ngcobozi, Mfundo Ngema and Enrico Grantham. Back: Logan Leisher, Julian Silver, Amogelang Masilo, Luke Hugo, Coach Thabo, Coach Bobby (absent), Lunga Sitole, Sanele Miya and Luke Gomes.
U-6 ONE TEAM: League winners who came second in the Cup and went out due to penalties. Front: Rylee Greyvenstein, Kellan Holm, Hernandez Lobumbua and Destiny Basongo. Back: Liam Petersen, Lisandro Gomes, Slade Setaro, Coach Brian Petersen, Manager Stacey Petersen, Callum Mulligan and Tyler Mulder.
