Toddler drowned in Palmridge

The little boy was recovered. His body was swollen, but had no visible injuries.

THE Eden Park police have registered an inquest concerning the death of a five-year-old boy who drowned on October 11 in Palmridge.

Police allegedly reported that the community of Extension Two and Three in Palmridge are blaming the toddler’s mother for her don’t-care-attitude towards her son and her bad habit of being at the gambling house all the time.

It’s reported that the five-year-old went missing on October 10 and could not be found anywhere. The community then took it upon themselves and fetched the mother from the gambling house.

Captain Vusi Mhlophe said the police were called and begged to take the boy’s mother to the station to be questioned about her son.

“Community members phoned the police early Wednesday morning to report their suspicion that the boy could have drowned in an open hole close to the Palmridge Court,” said Captain Mhlophe.

“We called for divers who reacted promptly. The little boy was recovered. His body was swollen, but had no visible injuries. He was declared dead at the scene and his body was handed over to the correct officials.”

The police have opened an inquest and are investigating the case.
