Alberton’s Meat Worlds announce two winners
Fourteen cars in total have been given away by the various branches of Meat World.
ON Saturday, August 5, two Meat World branches in Alberton concluded their competition in which shoppers who spend over R100 could enter a draw to win a new Suzuki Swift, and announced two winners.
This is an annual competition and this year, 14 cars in total have been given away by the various branches of Meat World. Angelino Pereira, the managing director of Meat World, commented: “This is our way of thanking our customers for their support and loyalty. It is very important to give back to the community as a token of appreciation for everything they do for us.”
The Meat World at Alberton Lifestyle Centre and the one in Kritzinger Street, Verwoerdpark, each held their own name-drawing ceremony. The Alberton Lifestyle Centre’s branch held theirs at 10.30am, while the Verwoerdpark branch held theirs at 2pm.
At the Alberton Lifestyle Centre, Jorge Martins (one of the five Meat World owners), along with Sandra do Poco, proceeded with the lucky draw. First, they put all the names of those who entered the competition into a bag. They then picked out at random from the bag the top 10 contenders to win the car. Each of these contenders received a complimentary R200 meat voucher as a token of congratulations for making it into the top ten.
David Loppnow’s name was drawn as the winner of a brand new Suzuki Swift. His wife, Geraldine, was absolutely ecstatic, saying: “I dreamed about this the other night – my husband winning this car. I can’t believe it, I am so happy! We rescue animals and our car was giving us problems, so this is amazing and I am so glad we can rescue the animals without worrying about car troubles!”
Later at the Verwoerdpark Meat World branch, Fernando Abreu (manager) proceeded with the lucky draw. Strings of balloons decorated the walls, each one containing the name of a possible top ten contender. Fernando then asked 10 children each to have a turn in popping a balloon of their choice. After ten names were “popped” out, each of the 10 received a R200 meat voucher, also as a token of congratulations from Meat World.
Hercules Kruger was announced as the Verwoerdpark winner. He was quite speechless, but managed to say: “How do I feel? I feel awesome. This is awesome. Meat World is the place to be!”
