Psychological workshops to be held in the South

Use your head and help from the heart

FIONA Leibrandt is a psychologist from Head and Heart whose main focus for the past two years has been to provide psychological services, mainly in the form of counselling, to people who are unable to afford it but desperately need such an intervention.

The Head and Heart team are now embarking on a next phase where they will be providing life skilled themed workshops using a fun and hands-on approach.

“In so doing, we’d like to do our part to better the present and future of struggling and broken surrounding communities by targeting the individual, the family and the broader community,” said Leibrandt.

The life skill focuses on:

· Soft or emotional intelligence skills, for example, anger management and self-esteem.

· Practical hands-on skills, for example, job-seeking and first-aid.

· Health, environment and safety skills for example safety around weapons and litter.

By using a workshop approach, Head and Heart hopes to help more people than before and do their part in addressing some of the psycho-social issues such as drug abuse within troubled communities.

The team plans on running similar life skill workshops within the South of Johannesburg by first raising funds for such initiatives and in so doing offer people something for contributing towards the initiative.
