Dilapidated buildings are a criminal haven

There are battered, broken down buildings with vagrant criminals occupying it.

I have been struggling for two years with a problem in Derby Road, Newmarket.

In the field across from SA Olympic Health World, where I work, are battered, broken down buildings where vagrants live.

These people are criminals because there have been numerous cases where they attack and rob innocent passers-by and they’ve even used weapons. They also steal the gym’s water and I’ve told them that they’re not allowed to, to which they responded that they’ll kill the children of the residents who live on the gym’s premises if we don’t give them access to our water.

CRIMINAL HIDEOUT: Vagrants occupy these dilapidated buildings, often robbing and hurting passers-by, according to a letter received from someone who works in the vicinity.

I’ve contacted the Ekurhuleni Metro Municipality so many times, requesting the demolition of these ugly, dangerous half-buildings – all to no avail. These vagrants are a threat to the gym members and anyone else who dares to enter Derby Road. The simple bulldozing of these buildings is all I ask, so that this problem can come to an end. If the buildings are gone, they’ll be gone too.

Frustrated

The Record is awaiting comment from the Ekurhuleni Metro Municipality.
