New church leader welcomed at induction breakfast

"Together we must move Eden Park forward," Pastor Kobie said.

ON Monday, May 1, the Apostolic Faith Mission (AFM) church organised an induction breakfast to introduce their leader, Pastor Johannes ‘Kobie’ van Weren, to the community.

Three months before, on Sunday, February 26, Pastor Kobie had been introduced to the congregation as their new leader.

Pastor Kobie, who grew up in KZN, is from a family of six brothers and one sister. The family is blessed with priesthood, as his father was a priest, three of his brothers are priests and three are evangelists. Pastor Kobie comes to Eden Park from Eldorado Park, where he served under his brother.

Monday’s breakfast was held to introduce the AFM leader to all the Eden Park pastors from the different denominations in the area, as well as principals and community leaders.

“I am here to meet all pastors, to know them, to work with them, to hold hands and change Eden Park because we all work for one and the same King. Together we must move Eden Park forward,” Pastor Kobie said.

“We have about 45 000 residents in Eden Park and about 60 per cent are unemployed and we as pastors must work together and pray for them. Together we can,” he said.
