Ludi’s heart saves a patient in Cape Town

Best friend talks about saying goodbye to a friend.

A CLOSE friend of Ludi Vink (30), who would like to remain anonymous, spoke to the RECORD earlier today at the scene of the crime in Randhart.

She said they have been friends for 24 years.

“Ludi is still on life support after he was declare brain dead in The Wits Donald Gordon Medical Centre, so that his organs can be donated. I was there and no words can describe the pain I felt,” she said.

“Ludi was a good artist, just like his father, and he was one of my best friends. We knew each other from the age of six and to see him just lying there, is heartbreaking,” she added.

Ludi was stabbed with a pool cue on Tuesday, February 21, at Mitzy’s biker club in Randhart. A video shows how the incident happened.

The friend said Ludi and his mother, Danlee, went out for drinks on Tuesday when a fight broke out in the club. Ludi was trying to stop the fight when a man took a pool cue and stabbed him in the face. In the CCTV footage, it can be seen how the pool cue remains lodged in his head and he falls to the floor. His assailant, who is a bigger man, can be seen turning around and walking away.

Another man then comes running towards the victim to yank the pool cue out of his head.

Ludi was taken to Natalspruit Hospital and was transferred to The Wits Donald Gordon Medical Centre (Johannesburg).

The friend also said that Ludi’s fiancé, Clare Boadle, arrived from Australia today.

Ludi is a former Hoërskool Dinamika and Hoërskool Marias Viljoen learner.

The police are currently at the pub with the family and staff, taking down statements.

Messages of condolence are still streaming in on social media.

GOOD TIMES: Clare Boadle (fiance) with Ludi Vink.

Clare Boadle posted this on Facebook today:

Today I said goodbye to the love of my life, best friend and soul mate. I’m so glad I got to hold you and kiss you one last time.
Ludi was declared brain dead after being brutally attacked.
He was kept alive on life support so that he can donate all of his organs with the first being his heart going straight to a patient in Cape Town. I don’t know how I’ll do this without you. I love you and I’m yours forever   — with Ludi Vink.
