Wild Rides Funfair thrills Alberton

It’s a sense of freedom that’s hard to describe

OUR community is getting to enjoy its own all-inclusive playground, the Wild Rides Fun Fair, until February 12.

Sedrick Roos, its founder and owner, tells us more about running it and living life on the road.

During the day, when there are no visitors, Sedrick makes sure that everything is well maintained and running smoothly for when there will be visitors in the evening. He, his wife and two children travel around nearby towns.

“It’s a much different life than most other people’s,” he says. “I met my wife in Thailand six years ago and now we have two children together. They enjoy it, we all enjoy it. It’s a sense of freedom that’s hard to describe.”

He admits that this lifestyle also comes with its complications, however. It requires him to work every day and every night. It is also inconvenient to move around so often. Many to-and-fro trips are required to move all the parts and machinery from one place to the next. He has 16 people working for him who rely on the success of the fair to support them and their families.

“I wouldn’t trade it for the world,” he smiles. “I’m free and I’m not time-bound and I love the outdoor life. It’s a lot of responsibility, but it’s worth it.”

Sedrick suggests that one must be free-spirited to enjoy this sort of work and lifestyle. Humility is also needed to succeed. He has reached his life goal and is truly happy. His next dream is to watch his children grow up. He is most thankful for them.

For a fun night out, visit the Wild Rides Fun Fair next to the Lemon Tree shopping centre. It has various fun activities and rides, including a Ferris wheel, go-karts, a face-painting kiosk and much more. At R10 per person, you cannot miss out!
