Thieves steal while home owners sleep

The burglary sparked off a beating of a notorious young male in the area.

WHEN the Moss family went to bed on Sunday October 16, everything was in order and all doors were locked. But when they got up on Monday morning, their household appliances had been stolen.

The owner, Gertrude Moss, said that she got up at 05:30 to wake her daughter in the outside building, when she noticed that her front door and windows were wide open.

“While wondering how that could have happened, I looked around the lounge and discovered that my television, DVD player, speakers and electric kettle were missing.

“Two window pains were removed from their aluminium frame,” she added. “Neither we, nor the neighbours heard anything.”

The burglary sparked off a beating of a notorious young male in the area and sadly, only after the beating, it was discovered that the community had the wrong culprit. No charges were laid.

Eden Park SAPS were called and they took finger prints, plus names of possible suspects. A case of housebreaking and theft is being investigated.
