Officer arrests hijacking suspect

The suspect tried to remove the number plates.

A MAN was arrested on June 28, for a hijacking committed in 2014.

On the said evening, one of Hi Zone Security’s reaction officers came across an accident at approximately 22:15, during a routine patrol in Alrode, on the old Vereeniging road.

He noted suspicious behaviour when he saw the male driver attempting to remove the vehicle’s number plates, and reported the incident to the control room.

The number plates were checked and it was discovered that the vehicle had been hijacked in 2014.

The suspect was detained and taken into custody.

Hi Zone would like to thank Richard Rodriguez, from the EMPD, and the SAPS for their assistance.
