Prospect Studdard on the move

Prospects at the palace III will be staged on Sunday July 24.

ANY boxer who wants to get the nod for bigger things in his career is hoping to show his skills at the development boxing tournament, Prospects at the Palace.

This tournament will take place on Sunday, July 24 at Emperors Palace presented by AfricanRing in conjunction with Golden Gloves Promotions.

Joshua Studdard is one of these boxers who has made it through the ranks and has become a household name when the boxing card is named for the development tournament.

Studdard has proved his worth in the previous tournament and was also seen at Brawl for it All which was held in April, where the Southerner kept his cool and won by TKO against Sihle Jwelane. He also has a spot as one of the undercards at Night of Reckoning fighting the tall, gangly Ayanda Nkosi in his first outing as junior-featherweight.

Studdard is trained by the well-seasoned, Warren Hulley, and together they will be hoping to carry on with his winning streak. His current record reads seven fights, six KOā€™s.

Former SA junior-welterweight champion Grant Fourie heads the card in an eight-rounder. DeeJay Kriel will be in action in his ninth outing. He has thus far had eleven outings as a minimumweight contender.

Two of Sean Smithā€™s prospects the welterweight Thulani Mbenge ā€“ who has five KOā€™s in as many fights ā€“ and light-heavyweight Chaz Wasserman, a former MMA fighter now trying his hand at boxing, will be on the cards.

Other prospects getting an outing include exciting Lucky Mongebane, Sterling Shaw and Nico van der Merwe, a junior-middleweight who excites veteran trainer Harold Volbrecht.

Golden ringside tickets will be on sale, which include a sumptuous Emperors buffet, while unreserved seating costs R150.
