Help your child make a felt Christmas wreath

Felt is a fantastic fabric for any sort of DIY endeavour. We think it’s great that kids can get their hands on felt because it’s so gentle to the touch. We also like how adaptable it is; you can shape it however you like by cutting, folding, sewing, stuffing, glueing, and knotting.
Today, we’re showing you how you can help your child make a Christmas wreath from felt.

What you need

• 4 Sheets green felt
• Paper plate
• Scissors
• Glue gun
• String or wool
• Small red pom poms

How to make it

1. Cut leaf shapes out of the felt. For a few leaf templates, click here. Aim to have at least 30 leaves in total. If the leaves aren’t the same size or design, that’s fine.
2. Remove the inner portion of the paper plate, leaving only the rim (discard the centre). Before unfolding the plate, we folded it in half, marked off a half circle, and then made the cut.
3. Using a hot glue gun, stick the leaves on the rim of the plate. Don’t stop until the ring is complete.
4. Add red pom poms, sticking them down firmly with the glue gun.
5. To hang,  punch a hole in the top of the wreath, pull a piece of string through, and tie.
