Angry residents in Geluksdal blocked roads with burning tyres demanding service delivery.

Access into the area was blocked with residents chanting struggle songs as they demanded better services.
Some of their grievances include deteriorating service delivery, poor infrastructure in schools, poor services at the clinics, and free electricity.
Concerned resident Herman Rademeneyer said they don’t understand why the city decided to take away the 100 free units from deserving residents.

“We were not consulted but were shocked when I bought the units and the free units were not added.
“No one is telling us anything, even the ward councillor who is supposed to keep us updated about service delivery issues is keeping a distance from the community,” he explained.
Another resident Ryan Jasson added they are going to protest until Mayor Tania Campelle addresses them.
“We have called Ward 82 Clr Henry Buitendacht to address us but without success. He is not taking us seriously, yet he vowed to lead this community,” added Rademeneyer.
The ward councillor could not be reached for comment at the time of going to press.
