King Razo bags SAMA nomination for his latest project

The seven-track EP was released last year and features various local artists.

Tsakani – Local artist King Razo is ecstatic to be nominated at the 28th South African Music Awards (SAMA) in the Best Kwaito Album category for his Trip to Jozi EP.
Lungelo Ngema started as a hip-hop artist in 2005 in his hometown in KwaZulu-Natal.
His first single to gain him airplay was Give it up Nanda, released the same year.
In 2019 he joined a rap group iNanda City with artists Nyevroxx, Khulex and Verbs.
Together they released a single titled Vulindlela before venturing as a solo artist in 2012.
However, in 2015 he teamed up with fellow artist Stix Manyanyisa and formed a group called Durban Poison.
“When I moved to Tsakani, I met producer Lungile Zwane, aka Kabion.

“We recorded our first album, Blessing, that went to reach number two on uKhozi FM’s iNamba Namba chart show.
“That album also scored us our first national television interview. We also managed to feature Bongo Riot,” he explained.
In 2019 he went solo again and that’s when he decided to venture into kwaito.
“I started with hip-hop because, at the time, that’s what everyone in my hood was doing.
“But in my heart, I always knew that kwaito was the one for me.
“When I decided to pursue my passion, the Kwatsaduza community continued to show support which I am eternally grateful for,” he said.

Representing kwaito artists in Kwatsaduza at the South African Music Awards is King Razo.

On his nominated EP he has worked with various local artists such as Long Division (Amaqophamlando), Mars Masupa Sekabate, Happy-line, Mello Liberty and the late P-stain.
The EP is available on all digital platforms.
“I would like to thank my producer and my dear friend Kholisile Majola for always being there.
“To God as well, whom I am thankful for the greatest gift of music.
“And everyone who has and continues to support me in all I do. Kwaito will never die,” said King Razo.
The award ceremony will take place on August 28.
