Making melted pony bead suncatchers
Melted bead suncatchers are simple to make using children's plastic pony beads. Make a gorgeous suncatcher by following these easy steps.
Unlike most paper or contact paper suncatchers and stained-glass projects, these melted bead suncatchers will survive and withstand outdoor use.
However, melting plastic is dangerous, so be sure to follow the instructions carefully and complete this project outside!
What you need
- Translucent pony beads
- Metal baking pans (muffin tin)
- Electric drill
- Thread or twine
How to make it
- Keep an eye on your youngster as they arrange beads in a metal baking dish. If you have small children, make certain that no beads end up in their mouths.
- Arrange the pony beads in a single layer in your metal baking dishes with your child’s assistance.
- A cake pan can be used to create a big suncatcher.
- Melt the beads in the oven. Important reminder! Because the melted plastic is hazardous to one’s health, open all windows and doors.
- Allow the suncatchers to cool.
- When the suncatchers were cool enough to handle, invert the pans and they’ll pop straight out!
- Drill a small hole in the centre of each suncatcher with a power drill, then place a thread or twine through the holes to hang them. You can hang them one at a time or thread several together to construct a mobile.
