Kwa-Thema – Thabang “TCTee” Tebele (29) is a self-taught producer, DJ, mixing and mastering engineer born and bred in Kwa-Thema.

“My music career began in 2005 as a local shebeen DJ. I was strongly influenced by the likes of Mahalatini, DJ Cleo and Bubblegum Disco.

“It then later took off to even greater heights when I was offered an opportunity to tour with ChisaBoy on his Ngomso album tour as a producer and DJ where I shared the stage and rubbed shoulders with some of the industry’s biggest names such as DJ Tira, BlackCoffee and Liquideep just to name a few,” he said.

Under this music company, he has engineered music for Eeque the Dreama and Makwa6eats, Charlie Mind Games, Joeman and Jacaranda FM’s Danny Painter.

“I have also been mentoring local young up-and-coming artists, equipping them for their music careers both musically and technically,” he added.

His latest body of work, inspired by the social media trend ‘ISunday Iyahlonishwa’, has been getting a positive response on social media and in the community.
“The numbers are consistently growing online,” he said.

Initiated by local influencer Petro Bafana Masina, ‘ISunday Iyahlonishwa’ loosely translates to ‘respect Sunday’.

The song was composed and written by emerging vocalists Ntandoyamahlubi and Gugukantu.

“They posted a video singing the melody on Facebook, which then surprisingly made it onto my timeline.

“I approached Ntandoyamahlubi, Gugukantu and Phetollo in the making of what I believed was an amapiano hit song,” said Tebele.

The ‘ISunday Iyahlonishwa’ theme song emphasises the need to show a sign of respect to Sunday by dressing up, looking good and taking pictures for the #isundayiyahlonishwa trend.

The concept is based on the idea of Sunday being a holy and respected day, and in the case of the movement, the best way to show a sign of respect to Sunday is by looking smart and elegant.

The producer mentioned that more new faces are going to be seen and heard under the record label.
