Generator to alleviate Vita Nova electricity debt

The Jehovah Jireh Ministry in Wright Park made a much-needed donation to the Vita Nova Centre on Saturday.

The Jehovah Jireh Ministry in Wright Park made a much-needed donation to the Vita Nova Centre on Saturday.
The donation consisted of clothing, nappies, nebulisers and, most importantly, a generator.
The centre is struggling financially due to their inability to host fund-raising events.
Their electricity bill has been one of their biggest hurdles, even with donations from the public.
The church identified the centre as part of their social responsibility programme.

“Thank you for receiving us and being so welcoming. We are hoping to contribute more as time goes on. We hope the relationship will continue,” said Matshepo Kodisang, a representative of Jehovah Jireh Ministry.
Vita Nova is home to 118 residents, with various disabilities, who live in five hostels. The youngest resident is three years old and the oldest is 78.
The centre has a shortfall in finances of about R200 000 each month.
“All of our children need some level of assistance with tasks, such as bathing, taking medicine and some of them are in nappies. And those who can help around the centre do so,” explained Michelle Immelman, director of the centre.

With regards to the financial worries, such as the centre’s electricity bill being R40 000 in arrears, Immelman said the community’s assistance helps tremendously.
“We live from day to day, we don’t worry about it all. The community helps a lot and the Lord provides for us,” she said.
