Pastor arrested after congregant raped

Woman raped after seeking help from pastor

A 60-year-old pastor from a church in Payneville was arrested after allegedly raping one of his congregants last Sunday morning.
The victim, in her 40s, told police she was going through a difficult period in her life and went to her pastor to seek help.
She arrived at the church and spoke to the pastor, after which he directed her to his office and gave her a plastic tub containing ‘holy tea’ and told her to bathe in it.

The pastor left the office and the victim undressed and washed with the tea.
While the victim was still bathing, the pastor returned to the office, pushed her to the floor and raped her.
Once he was done, he told her to bath again and instructed her to come back later so he could give her R10 000.
The victim was taken to hospital after her ordeal and the pastor was arrested that evening.
