Wandile Waka Zwane on making a name for himself in the comedy industry.

Tsakani -Mfanufikile Zwane, best known by his stage name Wandile Waka Zwane, is making a name for himself in the comedy industry.

He uses his platform to advocate for political and social change.

He performed his first-ever stand-up act in Gillingham, England, in 2014.

“This particular show I was dared by a friend of mine, it wasn’t until 2017 that the comedy bug bit me. From there, I never looked back,” says Zwane.

He has done three one-man shows so far, Stand Up For Who in 2017, Thinking Out Loud in 2018 and The Recovering Racist in 2019.

He has performed at Parker’s Comedy & Jive, The Box, Johannesburg Theatre, The Goliath Comedy Club, Soweto Theatre, Armchair Theatre, Sandton Comedy Club, Melville Comedy Club, Cape Town Comedy Club, Comedy Under The Sun, Monday Night Comedy, just to name a few.

He was crowned 2019’s Comi-Kazi finalist.

In 2018 he walked away as a semi-finalist.

He has shared the stage alongside some of South Africa’s heavyweights in the comedy showbiz, such as KG Mokgadi, Stuart Taylor, Robby Collins, Trevor Gumbi, Martin Davis, Vittorio Leonardi, Deep Fried Man, Chik Aljoy, Chris Mopane, David Kau, Bongani Dube, and many others.
