There’s a new a cappella group to look out for

Euphoric Rhythm is winning fans of a cappella, Afro-soul, jazz and R&B with its joyful and soulful sounds.

KwaThema – A local a cappella group is slowly taking hold of the local music scene.

Euphoric Rhythm is winning fans of a cappella, Afro-soul, jazz and R&B with its joyful and soulful sounds.

The group consists of four members.

Samkelo “Kofoko” Ndumo is a singer, writer and drummer. Khubulani “J. Stone” Weyi is a rapper and singer.

Ndumiso “Dexter” Hlakuva is a producer, solo vocalist and songwriter. Amogelang Sithole is a producer and songwriter.

They released Uthando in early July, which led to them releasing their latest single, titled Dancing in the Rain.

Dancing in the Rain is being played on EKFM to rave reviews from fans.

The group is the brainchild of Ndumo and Hlakuva.

Twenty-year-old Ndumo, who is studying marketing at Ekurhuleni East College in Springs, says each member of the group has a vital role to play in producing quality music.

“We all get to learn from each other and so far it has proven to be a positive journey.

“We have connected well as individuals and understand that teamwork is important.

“Fortunately, we all have a common goal. We strive to produce quality and meaningful music.

“Who knows, perhaps one day we will be performing at the South African Music Awards,” says Ndumo.

Co-founder Hlakuva (20) says he started singing in Grade One.

“My sister is a musician and she has had an influence on me and my musical journey since I was a child.

“She is forever encouraging me to pursue music and make it a career,” says Hlakuva.
