Creating opportunities for aspiring artists

He is looking for talented Afro-pop, hip-hop and Afro-beat musicians who have an interest in becoming professional artists.

Duduza – Twenty-five-year-old Thabiso Masedi Malatji is dedicated to helping up-and-coming artists in Kwatsaduza.

The young entrepreneur, who is passionate about music and working with new artists from the township, launched Deep Elevation Entertainment in 2018 with the aim of assisting artists break into the industry.

“When I started the label, I had no funding and no experience of owning a record label.

“The only thing I knew was how to manage artists because that’s how I started.

“I taught myself everything through research. I focused on learning about the music industry and how everything operates,” says Malatji.

He is looking for talented Afro-pop, hip-hop and Afro-beat musicians who have an interest in becoming professional artists.

“What I have noticed is that most artists in this era don’t want to be signed by record labels but they lack knowledge and understanding of how the music industry works.

“Some don’t even know the fundamentals and basics, like how to present yourself as an artist and how the radio selection process works,” explains Malatji.

His company is currently administered by Sheer Publishing Company and he has also partnered with Beatroot Pty Ltd for music distribution.

He has five artists signed under his label.

“Most of my artists are successfully getting airplay on radio and music channels.

“I am here to assist all artists because I believe I am ready to reach the international market with the music quality we have,” adds Malatji.

He also caters for independent artists who are in need of music publishing, music distribution and/or music plugging.
