KwaThema gospel artist to host show in Springs

“Most of the songs are a reflection of my journey spiritually and in life in general,” he explains.

KwaThema – Local gospel artist Fiky Mngoma will be celebrating his 10th year in the industry as a solo artist.

The night of gospel music will be held at Springs Theatre on Saturday evening and will see mainstream artists showing off their talents on stage .

The multi-talented musician says the show promises to be a night to remember as his fellow artists will be helping him to reflect on his journey in the industry.

After years as a backing vocalist for gospel artists, in 2009 he decided to go solo as a musician while focusing on his journalism and teaching career.

“I identified the need to mentor and groom young up-and-coming artist and help them excel in their chosen path of life.

“Through the journey of travelling the world with major artists I learned a lot and decided it was time I followed my own path and record my own music.

“I have been working on my first album for the past two years, but at some point I decided to put in the cooler because I I was not motivated enough and not happy with what I was producing.

“I decided to take a break, but I recently started working on new songs which many will be able to relate to.

“I am hoping to finish working on it by late this year and I believe it will be well received by my supporters.

“Most of the songs are a reflection of my journey spiritually and in life in general,” he explains.

Fiky has performed with jazz, gospel, Afro-pop and house musicians.

In 2013 he worked with a DJ from eSwatini and released a single that reached number 10 on the charts in that country.

He has also toured other countries, including Botswana, Lesotho and Mozambique.

He recently worked with Deborah Fraser on her new album, which was produced by Sello Chicco Twala.
