67 minutes for school girls

The Autodealer team a division of Caxton & CTP Publishers took to the streets on Mandela Day and found themselves giving driving advice to students of Holy Rosary School for Girls later the day.

On Mandela Day, grade 11 and grade 12 students attending at Holy Rosary School for Girls in Edenvale, Johannesburg, received a presentation from Autodealer editor, Sean Nurse and motoring journalist, Justin Jacobs. The presentation revolved around the dangers of distracted driving practices. Using stories from personal experiences Sean and Justin explained how easy it is to lose concentration while using your mobile device while driving and how it could ultimately result in a vehicle collision.

In addition to the presentation from Autodealer, the team from Masterdrive also explained and demonstrated basic protocols to follow should the young woman find themselves in a hijacking situation. The organisation which specialises in driver training focussed their presentation on driver safety and preventative measures to have in place. After the presentations, one of the trainers completed practical demonstrations to highlight the safest steps in dangerous situations to avoid being kidnapped or worse.

The morning’s activities which included the practical demonstrations were made possible by the Williams Hunt Edenvale team which not only sponsored the activities but also provided the Opel Astra as the vehicle for the demonstrations.
