KwaThema singer wants to add more music to his EP

Uncle J recently released a five-track extended-play (EP), which he started working on in 2010.

KwaThema – “I used to travel with church choirs and when listening to former Joyous Celebration member Nhlanhla Mwelase, I realised I could also do that,” says Jabulani ‘Uncle J’ Masemola.

Masemola says his family does not understand his chosen career in music and would prefer he goes to study.

As such, he has had to find alternative ways to make money and fund his music career.

“I started singing for customers while pushing their trolleys when I was working at a major supermarket,” he explains.

Masemola recently released a five-track extended-play (EP), which he started working on in 2010.

“I put all five songs onto my EP after winning a singing competition on Metro FM where I won R5 000,” he says.

Masemola would like to add more songs to the EP, but the producer he wants to work with charges R7 000.

“I am asking the community of Kwatsaduza to support me by buying my EP.

“I would also like to ask for donations of any amount to help raise funds for the songs I would like to add,” he continues.

He says he wants to take the independent route to avoid exploitation suffered by other artists under record labels.

Masemola can be contracted on 063 933 3144.
