Mariechan launches her EP, Cherry Blossom

Cherry Blossom which takes us through a journey of finding luck in love, deception, falling in and out of love, is a reflection of how she has evolved over the years as an artist.

Mariechan Luiters launched her anticipated EP on November 1 at Cotton Lounge, north of Johannesburg. It’s been over ten years since Jamali took the country by storm with the self-titled album in 2004, after they were runner-up in the TV show, Popstars. The Missed Calls hit artist, has finally decided to spread her wings by releasing her debut EP Cherry Blossom.

Cherry Blossom which takes us through a journey of finding luck in love, deception, falling in and out of love, is a reflection of how she has evolved over the years as an artist.

In a conversation with her grandmother whilst on a cherry blossom tree, Mariechan wished that she was pretty as the flowers of the tree. Her grandmother emphasised that she is just as beautiful and will one day be as beautiful as the flowers, thus the naming her EP Cherry Blossom.

“The five track EP is the reflection of my music journey and an expression of a self that I could not share before.”

Blossoming like the flower she is, the artist performed her EP in front of friends, family and the media.

In this record, Mariechan explores her rapping skills and showcases her versatility as an artist.

“My music is a culmination of stories, moods and experiences, and I hope when you listen to it, it inspires you to blossom into the best version of yourself”

Her modern sound is a reflection of a cherry blossom on a summer afternoon. If one thought she had lost it, think twice. Cherry Blossom is indeed an EP to have.
