KwaThema – Crowds filled Apostolic Faith Mission for the second Ekurhuleni Gospel Explosion on Saturday.

“The ultimate afternoon of praise and worship is aimed at uniting the community and going before God together.

“Ekurhuleni is for Christ,” explains Sphumi Mabena, one of the organisers.

The 2 000-seat venue was filled to capacity, with many standing in the isles waiting for the opportunity to hear their favourite gospel artists.

He says the team desires to show people a true reflection of the gospel scene in Ekurhuleni, through this show.

“The concept is growing and there is more pressure on the team to outdo themselves every year.

“We will start planning the next instalment very soon.”

Mabena says they we also reach out to more artists outside Kwatsaduza and include more women in the line-up.

“We are giving our own talent the platform to extend their careers.

“The more new faces we get each time, the better.”

When the electricity tripped for a few moments while Sifiso Mbatha was performing, the crowd kept singing.

Some of the other artists were rapper Solomon Spencer, Khaya Sibanyoni and Tshepang Mofokeng.

“We are grateful for the turnout, the show was a success.

“This was not our own doing, but God’s.”
