Hullabaloos are taking over

The Hullabaloos is an all-male band consisting of Sibusiso Mayisa (Protag), Sbulelo Mngwevu (Cure), Sihle Makalima (Bone) and Sibonelo Mngwevu (Base) and their DJ Lunga Mkundlu (King K).

Kwatsaduza – The group says it has a unique sound which is hard to classify under one genre but is widely influenced by hip-hop.

“We started working together in 2013, and before that we were individual artists.

“After several features and doing local gigs together we decided to join forces to form Hullabaloos – the East Rand kings of innovation,” explains Base.

Their energetic stage presence and unique way of interacting with the audience quickly made the group popular in Ekurhuleni.

“More gigs came as the word about our performances kept spreading.

“Among the biggest highlights was performing at the 2017 Hawaii Fest at Germiston Lake and the second annual summer splash in Tsakane Stadium,” adds King K.

They say they have a buzzing new hit called Kumnandi which is taking the streets by storm.

Cure says, “the cherry on top was getting playlisted on Yfm in February.

“We are working on an album and information on this will be announced soon.”

The group believes that there are more gigs coming their way.

“What stands out at the moment is the Rock Da Shades concert at Carnival City Gardens on April 7 where the group will also shoot a music video for Kumnandi.

“So if you are looking for a breath of fresh air that is sure to make a bold statement in the South African music scene, then don’t sleep on the Hullabaloos,” says Protag.
