Exclusive accessories by Ofentse

Passion drove Ofentse Modisane from law to fashion.

The 24-year-old qualified paralegal believes he has found his match in O.T’s Accessories and he is not letting go.

“I started making accessories in September 2016 after I realised that some of the stuff I imagined was not being sold in the stores.

“I saw a gap and I took advantage of it and I only had R100 to buy material.”

Ofentse specialises in making ties, pocket squares, lapel pins and cravats.

He also makes head wraps and scarves for women.

“People want exclusivity and I can provide that.

“I create everything from scratch so you can have it exactly the way you imagined it.”

The self-taught designer says he does not use traditional methods of creating clothes.

“I think of myself as an innovator.

“I don’t use patterns or anything like that.”

Ofentse says making his first sale will always stand out as the highlight of his career.

“Since then I have sold my accessories to many super cool people.

“I am a fashion lover and I know it is all about personal expression.”

Ofentse admits that after putting him through school his parents weren’t too thrilled about his decision not to practise law.

“I understand why they are disappointed but they are more supportive now that they see my efforts.

“I want to build an empire to show them that it was all worth it.”
