When passion meets talent

Tebo's main priority is grooming female DJs ekasi.

Tsakane – Soweto-born Teboho Walaza says performing is his life.

“Entertaining is my passion, I just cannot imagine myself doing anything else.”

The 25-year-old DJ says he discovered his talent when he was selected to be part of a school play.

“I then started taking acting classes with Love Life, on Saturdays.”

Teboho says it was only in 2006 that he threw himself into the arts after his father died.

“I just needed something to distract me from the reality of my father’s absence.

Music became my refuge.”

He explains that he learned how to DJ after a friend bought a computer and software to mix music.

“We taught ourselves because we were so eager.

“Soon we were playing at parties and taverns throughout the neighbourhood.

“Tsakane was also much safer then.

“Even though we were only teenagers, we would walk at night to get to all our gigs.”

Teboho says the more he played, the better he got at it.

“One of the highlights of my career was playing at the first Summer Splash at Tsakane Mall.

“We got the opportunity to meet some of the DJs we look up to, like Shimza.”

He believes that his calling is to pass on all the skills he has to those who are younger than he is.

“For me it’s not just about the lifestyle and being a celebrity.

“I am very passionate about grooming female DJs ekasi.”

His main priority is to get equipment to start teaching.

“I have started, but it has been a challenge to get all the facilities I need to train.

“I am hoping to get some help in that respect.”
