Moz Deli brings seafood to the street

Moz Deli is making street food fancy by bringing fresh fish to the hood.

Tsakane – Moz Deli is making street food fancy by bringing fresh fish to the hood.

The man behind the concept, established early this year, is Zamosi Ngomane.

“We developed our love for fish when we visited Mozambique where the preparation of food is all done with love.”

With no professional training, he fused his love for fresh seafood with the authenticity of the South African braai.

“I also wanted to promote this idea of braaing fish because you don’t have to worry about the issues of electricity.

“And the wood taste that adds flavour to the fish is amazing.”

Moz Deli seems to have been received warmly in the street food market.

“This weekend alone we have been invited to showcase at Soweto beer festival, Sporo’s street cookout, The Butcher 2.0 and JSfoodlovers Sessions in Daveyton, our original home town.

We never looked back because the response from our customers was amazing.”

He says the main aim has always been to change the way seafood is perceived by people ekasi, without compromising the quality of the dishes.

Zamosi also believes that the food they prepare is healthier than most street options.

“With the issues of diabetes and lifestyle illnesses in South Africa, we realized people can have fun and still eat healthily without the fear of gaining weight.”

He adds that Moz Deli is here to stay.
