KwaThema – A complainant (20) alleges he had the shock of his life when a known man broke into his home on Friday evening in Vergenoeg.
The victim says he was watching TV with his brother in his room in Vergenoeg.
He alleges that he heard the door being kicked open by a man he knows, who was carrying a firearm in his hand.
KwaThema police spokesperson, Captain Thabo Sibuyi, says it is alleged the man entered the room, demanded for the brothers’ phones, money and for them to be quiet.
“The suspect took the phones he saw connected to the chargers; however, the brother of the complainant grabbed the suspect and pulled him down.
“The complainant then noticed there was another guy standing next to the door outside the room and chased him but he managed to get away.
“Shortly afterwards, the complainant came back to assist his brother by grabbing the suspect while his brother screamed for help. They managed to call the police for assistance.
“Two ammunition and a toy gun were found in possession of the suspect,” he says.
Sibuyi says the suspect was arrested for house robbery and made a brief appearance on Monday at the Springs Magistrate’s Court.
“The case is being investigated further.
“Police have requested assistance because they want to find the remaining suspect who is still at large,” he says.
