According to the old proverb, behind every great man is a great woman.
For astronaut John Glenn, the first American to orbit the earth, there were three brilliant women, working tirelessly behind the scenes in order to help make the mission a success.
Hidden Figures is the incredible story of Katherine Johnson, Dorothy Vaughn and Mary Jackson, three women who worked at the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) during the Space Race between Cold War rivals, the Soviet Union (USSR) and the United States of America (USA).
Even though the operation to send John Glenn into orbit and bring him back safely was plagued with difficulties, these problems almost paled in comparison to the challenges faced by Katherine, Dorothy and Mary.
However, through sheer determination and hard work, the three broke through all racial and gender barriers in order to make their dreams come true.
By rising through the ranks and working alongside some of the greatest minds of the time, not only did the three help put America ahead in the Space Race, they also secured their place in history.
Directed by Theodore Melfi, Hidden Figures is an inspiring biographical drama about unsung heroes and overcoming the odds no matter what.
