Sauve Choral Group has bigger plans

KwaThema - The Sauve Choral group is working hard so that they can perform one day on the international stage.

The group was formed by two choral groups from Khumulo Secondary School and Langaville Secondary School in 2001 by the late choral conductor Thuto Seakga.

The youthful group is made up of 48 members from around KwaThema.

The Choral chairperson, Sihle Manqele (26), says that the founder realised that the two schools had talent and decided to invite them to come together and form one group.

“He wanted to grow choral music in the community because at the time we were only singing in schools and not getting enough exposure.

“He also wanted to empower the youth through music,” he says.

Sihle says that the youthful group has so far performed on national stages that include Dumisa, Imizwilili and more.

“They have also won national competitions, including the Mino League and the MSC Choral Competition.

“These were some of our biggest highlights because we never thought that we were that good musically,” he says.

Sihle says that their future plans involve performing on international stages and selling their music internationally.

“One of our biggest dreams is to participate in the Melting Pot music competition, where choral groups lock horns annually.

“This is where some of the best choral groups show off their vocal abilities on stage.

“We are also working hard so that one day we will be nominated on the SAMA (South African Music Awards) and Gospel Crowns Awards,” he says.

Sihle says that they are currently working on their second album and DVD, which will be made up of traditional and African gospel songs.

“It will be released at the end of the year,” he says.

Sihle says that they also perform at events and can be booked on 064 4662 688.
