The event was an audition round for the main event which will take place on June 18 at the Tsakane Community Hall.
Ubuciko is a platform for emerging acts in traditional music and dance to showcase their skills by competing on stage.
Forty applications from around Kwatsaduza, Kathorus and Tembisa were given auditions.
After a long day of different traditional ensembles taking the stage, judges had to choose the five best groups from the lot to make it through to the next round.
The five groups selected were Duduza Young Generation, Intuthuko Arts Production, Rethabile, Taxido Arts Production and Siyavuma New Generation.
These groups will form a single production to be facilitated by I-Afrika Theatre which will take the stage at the main event.
