Mabuza aims to inspire

KwaThema - Kwathema's own Thabang Mabuza (26) has done extremely well for himself as a social entrepreneur, founding his consulting company Ulwazi Resource Consulting and running the Lion's Den Programme which develops the youth's entrepreneurial skills through training and information sharing.

He recently had the opportunity to serve as a CEO for one day at the SAA Technical Advisory Board, after he was a finalist in the entrepreneurship category at the Standard Bank Rising Stars Awards.

Mabuza, who was born and bred in KwaThema, matriculated at Kenneth Masekela Secondary School and completed a programme in community development at Wits University and then project management at Regenesys Business School.

Mabuza says he was born with entrepreneurship in his DNA and wants to inspire and create opportunities for the youth of South Africa.

“I was so privileged to be afforded all the opportunities and experiences that I have had, and I want to do the same for the youth who look up to me and other entrepreneurs in my communities,” says Mabuza.

He has a number of accolades under his belt – he was chosen as one of 100 young people to network in the Brightest Young Mind network in 2013, he is the former chairperson of the Nelson Mandela Children Fund Youth Club and is an external consultant for the World Economic Forum on Africa and Switzerland.

Mabuza acknowledges the people who have been an inspiration to him, namely businessman and chairman of the South African Chamber of Mines, Mike Teke, and SAA Technical CEO Musa Zwane – both of whom are from KwaThema.

“These are the people who made my dreams seem so reachable, because they have done extremely well for themselves and I’m constantly motivated to do well and strive to be the best,” says Mabuza.
