Third album for Skaaz

Duduza resident Simphiwe ‘Skaaz’ Chirwa ka Mlotshwa (37) recently released his third album titled Umakademona or Veteran.

According to Skaaz the album has gospel, reggae and skhandi hop songs that will appeal to kasi people.

The 20 track album took him eight months to complete and Skaaz used several producers including Lungile Zwane.

“I am motivated by the kasi and the diverse experiences one gets from it,” said Skaaz.

He aims to put Ekurhuleni on the map with his music and hopes that mainstream media will start playing his tracks.

Skaaz was introduced to underground rap and hip hop back in 1997 and from 2002 to 2007 he was part of the four-man kasi slang rap group, Bon Tsotsi.

In 2008 he went solo and pegged the name Skaaz after being stabbed.
