Floods in Tsakane

Tsakane's black road was flooded with water due to heavy rains on Saturday afternoon.

According to councillor Mtumeleni Ndita, cars got stuck trying to cross over to the nearest stop sign at Tsakane’s black road.

He says the problem is that the pipes that were built next to the road fill up quickly when there are heavy rains because there are large quantities of sand next to them.

Ndita says the water levels were so bad that some of the homes in Langaville were also flooded.

He says he has contacted the Department of Human Settlement to assist the individuals who have been affected by the floods.

He further explains that he had a meeting with the Department of Housing on Monday and was then told that the affected residents will need to be relocated until the matter is resolved.

Ndita highlights that the area is a water-locked zone and that is why it will be a continuous problem.

Springs police spokesman Captain Johannes Rampora says the drain cannot hold the high volumes of the water.

Rampora says he assisted the cars that were stuck there so motorists could arrive at their destinations.

The black road currently has no floods as there has not yet been heavy rains since Sunday morning.
