In this self-contained story of ultra-violence that follows on from the original horror-thriller Purge movie, ill-timed car trouble forces a young couple to flee from a gang of killers on motorcycles just as the annual purge, the one night of the year when all crime including murder is permitted, commences.

Heading downtown, the couple joins up with a vigilante hell-bent on finding and killing the man responsible for murdering his son and a mother and daughter whose home has been destroyed by assailants.

Together this small group must join forces and stay alive until dawn breaks, and the purge ends.
