Kwa-Thema – The Kutlwano Social Organisation (Kuso) will host a Fun Walk/Run Heritage Day event at the Kwa-Thema Stadium on September 24. The event will have the theme ‘Act Against GBV, Show Respect’.

“To us, a healthy lifestyle speaks to regular exercising, choosing what to eat, having adequate sleep and taking enough breaks to relax, abstaining from smoking and drug abuse and the moderate consumption of alcohol, if not abstaining,” said the Kuso head of sports, Mmusi Zondo.

Wellness and a healthy lifestyle are the fibre for building sustainable communities, so Kuso has arranged for health practitioners, through mobile clinics, to run tests free of charge to the public.

The day will be full of activities, with the Scientology Centre bringing its information unit on drug and substance abuse awareness.

An aerobics session with an experienced trainer and fitness guru will follow the 10km fun walk. There will be a theme park for children comprising water slides, face painting, balloon sculpturing and a magician.

The programme will include entertainment, with local artists showcasing their talent, and a fashion show promoting local innovation and creativity to mark our heritage and culture.

Explaining the significance of Heritage Day, Kuso chairperson Dali Mofokeng said, “ Since the declaration of September 24 as Heritage Day, we as Kutlwano Social Organisation have organised commemoration events to celebrate our culture and heritage against the background of unity in diversity.

“The day allows us to pause and reflect on where we are coming from as a nation and to allow us to celebrate the victories of the current democratic breakthrough and how to work together for a prosperous future”.

Kuso invites the public to support this day and the planned programme. Children under 12 will be allowed in the theme park, manned by experienced childminders, while adults can enjoy the day.

Food and other wares will be on sale, and Kuso urges the public to avoid entering with bottled beverages for the safety of all, including children.

The organisation also promised tight security, and entrance is subject to terms and conditions. One can get entry tickets from all Kuso members and at the Kuso Clubhouse tuck shop.

Otee Radio will cover the event live, and it will be live-streamed on all social media pages.
