Bazingeli and Barcelona win their first playoff games

The top eight tournament continued at the Ntokozweni Ground.

Kwa-Thema – The Tsamaya League’s playoffs started on Sunday at the Ntokozweni Ground, where four new teams locked horns for the two available spots.

Tsamaya treasurer general Dumisani Dlamini said, “We are a league comprising 16 teams. When the season ends, two teams get relegated and join other teams interested in joining our exciting but very competitive league that is almost 30 years old.”

“We have Amadamara, Deep Level, Barcelona Masters and Bazingeli hunting for the two available spots. We expect the two best teams to join the league fondly known as Series A,” he said.

The four teams will play three games each, and the top two games through the point system will join the other teams for the 16-team Tsamaya League.

The playoff scores on Sunday were:

  • Bazingeli Masters 5 – 2 Amadamara Masters
  • Barcelona Masters 3 – 0 Deep Level Masters

Also at Ntokozweni Ground, the Tsamaya Top Eight 2024 tournament kicked off on February 4. The last season’s best eight teams battled it out, and four emerged victorious.

“We are left with Amajuba, Tsakane Civil Servants, RDP Masters and Verbal Warning,” said Dlamini.

The last four teams will play two-legged semis. The first leg started on Sunday, and the second is on February 18.

The top eight results were:

  • Amajuba Masters 4 – 3 Verbal Warning
  • RDP Masters 4 – 3 Tsakane Civil Servants

Dlamini said this is a winner-takes-all cup where they will award the winner a floating trophy and more prizes.

“The cup is also known as the Wafa Wafa Cup by some in the Tsamaya fraternity; it is popular. The second leg will be played at Entokozweni Ground, sharing the field with playoff games. That is why we urge all football lovers in Kwatsaduza to come and support us,” he said.
