Tshepo Mapotela is new BLFA secretary

Tshepo Mapotela wants teams to be tech-savvy.

Tsakani – The Brakpan Local Football Association (BLFA) now has new leadership and part of the leadership is Tshepo Mapotela, the secretary.

They elected the leadership in December. Mapotela is also the owner of Tjovitjo FC from Tsakani.

He said before the leadership election, the BLFA didn’t have proper leadership to guide the teams, especially on administrative issues.

“Before we were elected, I used to assist teams with administration and registration,” he said.

He said his short-term objective is to fix administration for teams so growth can happen.

“Some teams are not even registered as organisations, so for them, it is difficult to get sponsorship,” Mapotela continued.

Mapotela said, as a young secretary, he hopes to get teams technology-savvy administrators who will know the system, especially the SAFA BLFA site, where they’ll be able to register and monitor players and check the fixtures.

“We get teams who come to the ground on Saturdays, not knowing the fixtures and the previous scores,” he said.

The BLFA has centralised games (no home and away) at two grounds (Malandela and Ext 5 plus ground) because other grounds in Tsakani are not graded.

Mapotela said he’s ready for this journey as a secretary, which he also takes as a learning curve.
