Players and stakeholders awarded for contribution in the sport

The U13 team was the best team of the season.

Kwa-Thema – The Ayoba-Yo Youth Soccer Academy had its 15th annual graduation and award ceremony last month at the Phelang Special School Hall.

This was to celebrate the players’ growth in the team and to appreciate those who support the team. The U13s, coached by Banele ‘Coach Naiza’ Ndwalane, won the Team of the Season award.

This came after the team won different tournaments during the season, including the Mphatlalatsane Winter Tournament in Duduza, the Tsakane U13 World Cup and the U13 SLFA League. The team also won the Nomndayi junior tournament on Saturday.

One of the team’s youngest players Methuli Tjatji (7).

Velhemina Moutloatse, grandmother of one of the top achievers Boipelo Moutloatse who bagged five certificates and two trophies, said, “I am happy for my grandson’s achievements. He is doing well in the sport and I hope he will stick to it.

Boipelo bagged awards in Most Committed and Dedicated Player, Best Defender U13, graduated to U15, Most Promising Player and Players Player of the Year.

Boipelo was not present at the awards and Velhemina collected his awards on his behalf.

Siyabonga Ngwenya, who bagged six awards and two trophies in 2022, was awarded the promotion to PSL award. Ngwenya is now in the Orlando Pirates Football Club U17 team.

Velhemina Moutloatse accepted the certificates and trophies on behalf of her grandson Boipelo Moutloatse.

Ngwenya said, “I worked hard and am proud of myself. Many people have been supporting me and I will return that with a good performance.”

African Reporter journalist Kelebogile Chokoe and Doreen Mokgolo, a former journalist at the publication, also received certificates of appreciation for their contribution to youth development.
