DUSOK aims to make communities a better and safer space for women

DUSOK believes this will motivate men and boys to create a society free of violence and substance abuse.

The Dusty Sports Occasional Knockouts NPO (DUSOK) will host its third annual Sports Awareness for Women Abuse (SAFWA) on November 24.

DUSOK, in partnership with Impala Platinum, adopts SAFWA under the theme ‘Moving from Sports & Awareness to Action’.

SAFWA makes perfect sense to them because women and girls are victims of gender-based violence daily within communities.

This campaign is a step toward unveiling the plaque to be inscribed with a message of prevention, treatment and support. DUSOK believes this will motivate men and boys to create a society free of violence and substance abuse.

DUSOK aims to use sports to fight abuse.

They aim to build stronger relationships among each other within the communities, not only on a sports level but to reunite as a family and put the differences aside as today’s life is about providing a safer environment for everyone in communities, the future of the country and God’s world.

To accomplish this on a continued basis, they urge all participants, supporters, sports leaders, club members, community members and donors to stand up and say ‘Let’s stand together and focus on what’s more important for today’s women and girls’.

“I am certain as a combined unit we can make a difference not only for today’s women and girls but to whoever is involved in making a difference within God’s world,” said DUSOK’s secretary Mandla Gininda.

“On this day we will create much-needed awareness that those members of the public need on challenges faced by victims and perpetrators,” he continued.

DUSOK to launch this year’s tournament.

According to Gininda, the SAPS, EMPD, disability organisations, Ekurhuleni officials and community leaders of Ekurhuleni and surrounding areas will grace the occasion.

On the day, they also wish to unveil the plaque inscribed with a message of commitment, prevention, treatment and support. They believe this will motivate the community to curb this pandemic.

The event will be from 09:00 to 12:00 at the Kwa-Thema Old Age Home hall at 11472 Thokolo Street.
Registration is from 09:00 to 10:00.

During the launch, they will announce the SAFWA tournament date. They will play netball and ladies’ soccer.
