Local cricketer bags an award

The announcement was made during a virtual ceremony that was held on Sunday evening.

Kwa-Thema – Mpumelelo Mashiloane (16) from the Kwa-Thema Cricket Club/Hub was announced as the U16 2021/22 player of the tournament for the girl’s team at the Cricket South Africa (CSA) Awards on Sunday.
Mashioane was selected for the Eastern Cricket women’s provincial team last year.
“We had a great season and because of that, I was hopeful that I would win. This for me means working harder than I did before.
“My goal is making it to the national women’s team and to be an inspiration to other youngsters,” stated Mashiloane.
She joined Kwa-Thema Club/Hub as a bowler in 2016.
The hub’s senior coach Mandla Nkosi said he was thrilled as this marks the first time for the hub to receive an award of this multitude.

“We are happy and proud of her. All the coaches who have been involved in her journey have done incredible work in nurturing her talent and skills.
“This milestone proves that the hub is capable of producing quality players.
“I urge parents to bring their children to the hub, especially girls, allowing them to play cricket,” said Nkosi.
Mashiloane reiterated that playing for the hub has been an honour.
“There’s a lot of potential and room for growth. From the team, coaches and management they always work hard to ensure that we get the best practice,” she said.
