Kwa-Thema – The Kwa-Thema Sparks Tennis Club is preparing for the Bababedi Seniors’ Tennis Tournament that will be held in Benoni on July 23.
The home team is hosting this tournament in partnership with the City of Ekurhuleni and the Vosloorus Tennis Club.
According to club chairperson John Nkosi, the lack of tennis courts is the reason the tournament will be held in Benoni.

“So far the metro has only graded two courts and the ground hasn’t dried yet.
“We are still waiting for a proper handover, therefore, we cannot utilise it at the moment,” explained Nkosi.
He added that winning the tournament is important as it encourages others and serves as an inspiration to the juniors.
Meanwhile, head coach Moses Ngwenya said they were confident about the upcoming tournament.
“We have invested a lot of time in practice.
“Our players have been giving it their all by practising during the week; some come after work though our court doesn’t have lights,” he said.
The club has thanked the metro for the work done on the two courts they use for practice and games.
