School supports young athlete

Kwa-Thema – Qedusizi Primary School gave Siphesihle Mabena a boost on Thursday as he prepared to compete for national trials.
Mabena (13) is one of 22 members of the Kwa-Thema Disability Club who will take part in the Toyota SASAPD National Championships from March 17 to 23.
“We have learners with disabilities in the school. We want them to reach their full potential.
“School is not just about academics but all the activities that help a person grow.
“When Siphesihle does well in the competition, he will represent the school and the whole of Kwa-Thema,” said Oscar Malumane, the deputy principal.

“I am happy to be competing. The club has become my second family.
“My family also helps me out at home.
“I am confident I will do well because I have been training hard.
“The coach is very helpful,” said Mabena.
The young athlete only joined the Kwa-Thema Disability Club in 2021.
