Tournament to empower female soccer players to be held

Mkhonza Mkhonzana said the objective of the tournament is to allow local teams, which are not participating in structural games to be exposed to it.

Kwa-Thema – The Springs Local Football Association will be hosting a women’s soccer tournament this festive season.
The Raga Ball Tournament will see u-13 and senior female soccer players showing off their skills on the pitch with the hope of being spotted by soccer scouts.
The tournament is scheduled to take place from December 16 to 27, where the finals will be hosted at Kwa-Thema Stadium.
Mkhonza Mkhonzana said the objective of the tournament is to allow local teams, which are not participating in structural games to be exposed to it.
“There are very few league games for women, and young players are often not afforded the opportunity to participate in such settings.

“We want to motivate the female soccer players and give them hope that their talent will not end at a grassroots level and that it can take them offshore,” he added.
The senior team first prize is R10 000, the second prize is R5 000, the third prize is R3 000 and the fourth prize is R1 000.
In the u-13 category, the teams will win vouchers for sporting equipment of their choice.
The winning team will receive a R5 000 voucher, the second prize R3 000, third prize R1 000 and fourth prize R500.
